Puppets and Pastries: Dessert Theatre for Adults
- When: Friday, Feb 22 & Saturday, Feb. 23, 8:00 P.M.
- Where: Owl Glass Puppetry Center
- Cost: $15.00
Tickle your imagination and your sweet tooth by attending "dessert theatre," featuring EULENSPIEGEL PUPPETS and their talented friends! Enjoy delectable desserts including the famous "tres leches" cake from the Acapulco Bakery! Drink delicious beverages!
The evening will feature three puppet pieces: Monica Leo, Eulenspiegel’s lead puppeteer, will premiere her new paper theater piece, Play to Play (or Hold your Puppet Up!), a touching and humorous glimpse into the private lives of the puppets and puppeteers, developed with the indispensable encouragement and advice of the Black Doggers Playwriting Group. Using the traditional art of paper theater as a starting point, Monica has created a performance featuring incidents experienced during thirty five years as a touring puppeteer. The show uses hand painted paper puppets and paper engineered staging.
Buffy Quintero and Jen Shook will present a shadow puppet show, The Myth of Persephone, using sand as a medium, and Angela Polowy will present an eclectic short piece, Amos Moses, combining several puppetry styles.
Fans of mesmerizing storyteller Susan Short Gilbert and her prize winning play, Catchin’ the Babies, will be thrilled to be treated to a new work featuring her Cherokee great grandmother! Rounding out the evening will be Al Zimmerman, a favorite area musician, and his fabulous jazz piano.
Add the angelic singing voice of Laura Kittrell, delicious desserts, beverages, and laughter for an unforgettable evening!
