In recognition of West Liberty's 175th anniversary, Eulenspiegel will produce a large scale shadow puppet show about our local Underground Railroad history. As the location of the only documented example of an actual train being part of the Underground Railroad, the West Liberty depot plays a significant part. The show will also include the dramatic history of John Brown's two year residency 5 miles north of West Liberty. The puppets and scenes will be designed by Cara Calvin McFerren; script by Monica Leo; Research by Justin Cornett-Olson; music by Ron Hillis. Local residents will act as puppeteers and production assistants. Supported in part by a grant from the Iowa Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Eulenspiegel Puppets has performances, workshops, and educational sessions for all audiences.
