CURRENT SEASON: PUBLIC SHOWS & FIELD TRIPS! 2009-2010
Planned performances will use hand puppets, rod marionettes, rod puppets, shadow puppets, novelty puppets, and live music! Start the season by attending the West Liberty Children's Festival and end it by participating in the popular summer Parade Project!All events take place in downtown West Liberty, with most performances at the New Strand Theatre, a lovely 230 seat theater built in 1910 as an opera house. Just a twenty minute drive from Muscatine or Iowa City, West Liberty is a hopping little town with lots of restaurants and a fabulous new coffee shop to indulge in before and after the performance! For the eleventh consecutive year, Eulenspiegel offers Puppets and Pastries: Dessert Theatre For Adults, a classy evening out for the mature generation. RETURNING THIS

WEST LIBERTY CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL
(Note this year's new time!) The Adventures of Great RabbitFIELD TRIP SHOWS MON, OCT. 26, 10:00 A.M. & 12:30 P.M. Based on an Algonquin tale about Mahtegwis, the rabbit trickster, this Eulenspiegel favorite tells how Bobcat got his stumpy tale. The puppet theatre uses witty, fast-paced dialogue and highly mobile shadow puppets in a cleverly designed, colorful stage that mimics the unending saga of cat chasing rabbit. The expressive silhouette theater is enhanced with jewel-like accent colors. This production, which has toured Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic, features the live music of musician Ron Hillis.
CURRICULUM CONNECTIONS: Native American Folklore, science (light and shadow), American history, art, music, drama. (Study Guide provided).
PUPPETS TO GO from Florida The Frog Prince In this enchanting, updated version of the classic fairy tale, Wanda the Witch casts a spell on the handsome prince, turning him into a frog. To break the spell, he now must be kissed by a beautiful princess. There are a few delightful surprises, too. EULENSPIEGEL PUPPETS SUNDAY, JANUARY 24, 2:00 & 4:00 at Owl Glass Puppetry Center In The Mirror: Three Tales From Asia A set of three tales from Japan and Turkey, these stories all feature atypical heroes. A favorite is the little old lady outsmarting two Oni (Japanese trolls) who imprison her in order to sample her delicious cooking. The show uses a clever stage that rises and folds out of a decorated box. It features rod puppets, paper puppets, masks, and a combination rod puppet/rod marionette. Feb. 28, 2:00 P.M. Tickets: $15 Tickle your imagination and your sweet tooth by attending "dessert theatre," featuring EULENSPIEGEL PUPPETS, their talented friends, and delectable desserts! If you love puppet theatre, you’d like the opportunity of enjoying it in the company of other adults, and you’re curious to see what the puppeteers come up with, then this is the event for you! Saturday night will include a pre-event at Local Grounds Coffee House (right around the corner from Owl Glass). This event will begin at 6:30pm and include wine, hors d'oeuvres, and a silent service auction! Then we'll all walk over for the Dessert Theatre performance and delicious desserts. Sunday's performance will include the traditional Dessert Theatre at Owl Glass, including wine, coffee, and wonderful desserts!

(Title to be announced in January) CORCORAN PUPPETS & POINT DANCE ENSEMBLE w. local residents The Pied Piper Saturday & Sunday, April 17 & 18 Time and location to be announced Puppeteer Pam Corcoran and dance Pam Luedtke bring their original production, which they will rehearse and perform with local dancers and puppeteers. West Liberty’s mayor will play the part of the evil Mayor of Hamelin!

Developed by Monica Leo in collaboration with Mexican puppeteer Eli Portugal (formerly of Mojiganga Arte Escenico, which toured Iowa in 1995 and 2000), this delightful collection of animal tales from south of the border incorporates both English and Spanish.
